Sandakphu Trek Itinerary
Day 1 : Journey begins from Sealdah (Kolkata) to New Jalpaiguri (NJP).
Day 2 : NJP to Mane Bhanjang (6,325), on the way visiting Mirik. Night stay at Mane Bhanjang Homestay or Hotel.
Day 3 : It's our 1st day of Sandakphu trek. Early morning after breakfast starts trekking for Tumling (9,600ft). It's approx 10.5km, it will take 6hr to 7hr. Night stay at Tumling Homestay.
Day 4 : Early morning after breakfast starts trekking for Kali Pokhri (10,400ft). It's approx 6km, it will take 3hr to 4hr, via Gairibas, Kaiyakatta. Night stay at Kali Pokhri Homestay.
Day 5 : Early morning after breakfast starts trekking to Sandakphu (11,930). It's approx 6km, it will take 3hr to 4hr. Night stay at Sandakphu Homestay.
Day 6 : Trek to Phalut (11,790ft). It's approx 20.6km, it will take 8hr to 9hr. Night stay at Phalut Homestay.
Day 7 : Phalut to Gorkhey (7,700). It's approx 15km, it will be 4-5hr trek. Night stay at Gorkhey Homestay.
Day 8 : Trek to Srikhola (6,900ft). It's approx 12km, it will be 5hr trek. Take a Car to Njp/ Bagdogra (150km). it will take 6hr.
Day 10 : Reach Sealdah Railway Station, Kolkata.

Sandakphu Trek Route Map Description ~
Sealdah Railwy Station ~
~ Activities : Journey begins from Sealdah (Kolkata) to New Jalpaiguri (NJP). Night at Train.
We will meet at Sealdah Railway Station, start for New Jalpaiguri by Kanchan Kanya Express, Darjeeling Mail or similar trains of the same route as per as the ticket availability.
The spontaneous excitement of a train journey must not be missed. Night at Train.
Journey start for NJP to Mane Bhanjang ~
~ Activities : NJP Satation to Manebhanjang by Car. Evening free for Laisure, Night stay at Mane Bhanjang ( 6325ft ).
New Jalpaiguri to Mane Bhanjang by car – This journey will take about 4 hours covering a distance of 90 kilometers. The enchanting scenic beauty will glue you to your respective seats.
You will be allotted a Hotel/ Home Stay in Mane Bhanjang known for its city-like charm. The thrilling experience of living in a hill city is something you must keep on your checklist.
The street shops in the city are something you can explore. Also, you must save up your energy for your next day's mission.
Dinner will be Served at Hotel, Night stay at Mane Bhanjang.
Manebhanjang to Tumling ( 10.5km ) ~
~ Activities : Meet with Trekking Guide, Collect Permit for Singalila National Park, Trek to Tumling, Night stay at Tumling (9,600 ft).
Our 1st Day of the trek will be escorted by a Register & Experience Trek Guide, who will guide us throughout the trek. Trek to Tumling – Nearly 9 Km from Sandakphu Trek Maps covered on the third day after 6hr to 7hr of trekking.
Tumling is a must-stay on Sandakphu Trekking Package. Tonglu is situated at more than 9K feet altitude level. It takes around 5hr to 6hr hours to reach Tonglu by trekking.
Though initially, the road is quite steeper, the steepness keeps on increasing till Chitre. Beyond Chitre, the road is pretty less steep. The next stop Meghma ( a region enrobed by clouds) is about 5km from Chitre.
The road from the interior feels no less exciting than trekking on an unknown land of enchantment. There are few Homestays available in Tumling which fall in Nepal, and interestingly the road beside which they are clustered up belongs to the Indian Government. It almost feels like stepping into a new country whenever you want.
We will stay for the night at Tumling Homestay after having a warm and tasty dinner.
Trek to Kalapokhri ( 12km ) –
~ Activities : On thy visit Gairibas, Kaiyakatta, Night stay at Kala Pokhri (10,400ft).
12 km from Tumling is seated in a village named after a sacred lake Kala Pokhri. The 6-7 hours journey seems worth it when you get to imbibe the impeccable beauty of the black waters of the lake. The lake looks different in different seasons with each look holding significance.
There are few homestays for trekkers. It is also home to various migratory and non-migratory bird species.
Generally, Kala Pokhri is a village where trekkers rest before taking their final journey to Sandakphu.
Before Kalapokhri, the road runs through a thick forest, and often, shortcuts need to be taken because of the condition of the roads. This forest looks especially enchanting in spring with the Rhododendrons blooming resplendently.
This area falls under the Nepal government and is populated with Buddhist ethnoreligious groups. The Kala Pokhri lake is surrounded by prayer flags, flapping in the cozy wind.
The first point is Gairibasa, comprising few small huts and rest houses. To continue with the trek at this point, an entry fee is to be provided to the Entry Check Post.
Next stop at Kaiyakatta, 2km from Gairibasa. Gairibasa is therefore a nice point to take a break for a while before continuing the journey towards Kaiyakatta. This 2km road is steeper than the previous one. There are steps cut on the way to ease the trekkers.
Kaiyakatta is the last stop before Kala Pokhri, and lunch is to be completed at this point. Finally after lunch, the last and final stop of the day, Kala Pokhri which is another 4 km. Night Stay at Kala Pokhri.
Trek to Sandakphu.
Finally, the Sandakphu Trekking on the fifth day takes about ¾ hours on average. This journey of 6 km especially looks ethereal with the surreal beauty of the mountain.
After the end of the journey, the mesmerizing visuals of the four out of the five highest peaks of the world are something that will completely compensate for your tiredness. There is Sandakphu Trekkers Hut which can be availed for taking rest.

# Package 1 ( Sandakphu to Gurdum ) -
After you have imbibed all the scenic beauty of Sandakphu, it’s time for you to experience a calm and soothing place with less human inhabitants.
Gurdum is the best place for you to stay then. Located about 8 Km from Sandakphu, Gurdum is a tiny small village with few families offering homestay. There is another located at a distance of 3 km from Gurdum, where tenting is allowed.
It takes about 5 hours to trek from Sandakphu to Gurdum. Night Stay at Gurdum.
# Package 2 ( Sandakphu Phalut trek ) –
Another route the trekkers might opt for is Phalut.
The interested candidates needs to inform the travelling agency while planning for the trek because of limited homestay facilities available in Phalut.
It takes few hours to cover the approximate 20 km distance from Sandakphu to Phalut and thus demands adequate fitness for this trek. Homestay is available in Phalut.
Sabarkum, a place located 14 km from Sandakphu, takes around 5 hours to reach via trekking. The forest hut at Sabarkum is an extensive tourist attraction. Night stay facilities are available here. Another 2.5 hours of trekking on a 7km distance will make you reach Phalut.
Phalut is one of those bewitching places you must visit in a lifetime. It is the second highest peak of West Bengal. The ethno-religious group in Phalut, worship the mountain as a deity whom they refer to as Omna Re Ay.
The encaptivating sight of the mountain ranges from Phalut is inexplicably attractive. In spring time the view of Magnolias and Rhododendrons in bloom tunes the place with welkin like charm.
# Package 1 ( Trek to Srikhola ) -
Located about 4 Km from Gurdum, it takes nearly 3 hours to trek to Srikhola. Comparatively this place is warmer than the rest. Khola in local language means streams. To about 7 km from Srikhola is located Rimbik.
The soul healing sound of the flowing stream will fill your mind with immeasurable peace. From Srikhola, a car will take us down to New Jalpaiguri or Bagdogra Airport.
The journey is 150 km long and stretches about 6 hours.
# Package 2 ( Phalut to Gorkhey ) -
The group of travelers who opted for Phalut from Sandakphu will be headed towards Gorkhey.
The Phalut to Gorkhey trek is covered within 3-4 hours.
The place is known for its serenity. Trekkers Hut is available for night stay. The trek to Gorkhey is of almost 15 km from Phalut and the track passes through the forests abundant in Bamboo, chestnuts, hemlocks.
The trekking trek passes through Rammam. Rammam River marks the border between Sikkim and West Bengal. Samanden, an area enrobed in lust greenery is an attractive spot that falls in between the trek. Samanden is often termed as second Switzerland.
Finally the sight of Gorkhey Khola stream marks your arrival to Gorkhey. The place is surrounded by pine tress in abundance.
# Package 1 ( Destination Reached ) -

# Package 2 ( Srikhola to New Jalpaiguri ) -
The other group of trekkers of this Sandakphu Trekking Package will be taken to Srikhola.
The final trek to Srikhola is no less intriguing than the rest of the journey, 7km before Srikhola, a small village named Rimbick is present. Rimbick has a town like appearance. Small lodges and shops are available throughout the town.
The Gorkhey to Srikhola trek is almost 15km and takes 5 hours. The place is shrouded in Magnolia, chestnut, birches, pines and oaks. The Srikhola bridge is a famous site of attraction. Sights of Red Panda aren’t that much rare in this region. Few homestays and lodges are available in this region.
Next from Srikhola, journey towards New Jalpaiguri will be conducted on this day itself via car. The Srikhola to New Jalpaiguri road is covered in around 5-6 hours by car. And finally there comes an end to this incredible tour of lifetime.

- The Sandakphu Phalut trek is a moderate one.
A high altitude of 12k can be achieved with a moderate level of difficulty. Other than an extreme climatic deterioration, the trek isn’t that difficult.
Around 14-17 km distance is to be covered in 2 days and requires a pretty good level of fitness.
- The Sandakphu Phalut trek is about 65km in length. In this trek, one goes from 6400ft altitude at Jaubari to the highest point of Bengal, Sandakphu (11,950 ft). In the next 6 days, one descends to Sepi from Sandakphu.

- Phalut is located at 12k feet altitude range and 21 km from Sandakphu. From Maneybhanjan, the distance is around 53km.

The home of the Royal Bengal Tiger, Sajnekhali is also a heaven for bird watchers. Tourists can enjoy the panoramic view of Sunderban from Sajnekhali Watch Tower. One can have a glimpse of animals like tiger, deer etc. Nature Interpretation Center has been established, which is protected by a wired fence. Another worth-mentioning spot adjacent to it is crocodile and turtle farm. Other animals that have taken shelter are Fishing Cats, Wild Boar, Macaques, Flying Fox, Chital, Pangolin and others.

Kalash camp lies at the estuary of River Matla. It lies outside the core area, so visitors, mainly with armed guards, are permitted to reach the beach of Kalash.
